How Can I Get Baptized

Baptism is for the believer in Christ. Water baptism has absolutely nothing to do with salvation. It has everything to do with being obedient to Christ after salvation. The first step for the new believer should be baptism.

Just before His ascension, Jesus said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28:19-20.

Baptism is an outward testimony of the inward transformation that has taken place. As the sinner confesses the Lord Jesus, he dies to sin (Romans 6:11) and is raised to a brand-new life. (Colossians 2:12). Being submerged in the water represents death to sin, and emerging from the water represents the cleansed, holy life that follows salvation. Romans 6:4 says: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
