How Can I Become a Christian
The way of salvation can be shown by bible verses in the book of Romans in what is called the Roman road.
Romans 1:20-21 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” Mankind can clearly know that there is a God just by observing the things God has made. If you found a watch in the desert, you would observe how it keep perfect time. Logic would naturally tell you that there had to be someone who made it. When we look at creation and see how all of nature in earth and the heavens are working perfectly together, it is only natural to assume there had to be a Creator.
Rom 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” It is pretty clear that every one of us have sinned against God and have not lived up to His expectations.
Rom 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” It is amazing that God would show His love to us and die for us even while we were still sinning against Him.
Rom 6:23 “For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The payment for sin is death, physical death on earth and spiritual death in hell. That is why Jesus had to die for us in our place in order to give us eternal life. He took the punishment for our sins.
Rom 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” We must verbally confess what we believe in our heart that Jesus is our Lord, or boss, and our Savior from the penalty of sin.
Rom 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” You must be willing to humble yourself and call upon the name of the Lord.
Rom 11:36 “For of him, and through him, and to him, [are] all things: to whom [be] glory for ever. Amen.” Determine in your heart to make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life today.
Roman Road: Are You Ready to Accept God’s Gift of Salvation?
If you truly believe the message of the Roman Road, and want to accept God’s gift of salvation right now, it's a matter of repenting of your sins and turning the rest of your life over to Jesus Christ. This is not a prayer of empty or meaningless words, but rather, a willful decision and a sincere step of faith. Pray this prayer with all your heart.
“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”
"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38)
